Synthesis,
site-specific art installation
“Synthesis” is the site-specific art installation that consists of semi-transparent plastic sheets, coloured mosquito nets, white rope and colour on the walls. The installation elements are placed in an engaging way with the already two existing, dominant neighbour walls in the room. The installation plays with the meaning of the existing room architecture: between the walls there is a gap, but the installation elements are placed in a way that interact with the existing elements of the room. Placement of the installation elements engages the viewer to look at the separated walls as a whole: positioning the plastic sheets in a way that defines the width and the height of the installation. By hanging them from the ceiling, they are treated as curtains and in this way the viewer gets the feeling of a vertical direction of the artwork, especially within the wall gap where the full length of the “curtains” is emphasised. One light is placed behind, at the bottom of the curtain, which opens another vertical communication between the bottom and the existing ceiling lights.
